The Krabi Events

I'm stuck at the Krabi airport right now. A massive rainstorm. This also happened to me when I was leaving Bangkok to come to Krabi Wednesday night... but it was all worth it! Here is a schedule of events over the past few days!

Day 1: Left straight after school to hurry to the airport! I got there in plenty of time because the flight was delayed. I even saw a student, who I hid from. haha Anyways, finally got on the plane and the flight was smooth. Then I headed onto a shuttle to get to Ao Nang. I found a guesthouse and set out to explore Ao Nang and get some dinner.

Day 2: Got up early and set out to explore Ao Nang some more. I found the Krabi National Park center and saw a tsunami monument and walked along the beach. Then I made friends with a taxi driver and got a personal tour in a sidealong car around Ao Nang and to the Shell Cemetary. Then I headed back to the beach and got a longtail boat to Railay! The ultimate destination. I found myself a bungalow for a great deal in the middle of the jungle between the East and West sides of the beach. Then I headed out to West Railay for a lot of swimming and sleeping and tanning. That night, I followed the signs to Stone Bar. I was overly excited about the fact that a bar was named Stone Bar, Stoney is kindof a nickname I've acquired here, for reasons unbeknownst to anybody. Played lots of Connect 4 and even managed to win a couple games, which is kindof rare.

Day 3: Took a speedboat island hopping trip! I quickly became a favorite of the crew and lots of personal attention on the trip, which was lots of fun. haha Our first stop was Maya Bay, the film location of "The Beach". I have to say, I was very much not impressed. I saw more tacky people on this beach since I've lived in Pattaya. Then we headed to Lohsamah Bay, where we snorkeled! then we hopped back in the boat to go see Viking Cave and Pi Leh Bay. We stopped off at Phi Phi Don for an hour to wander about and have some lunch. Then we headed to Monkey Beach, where there were monkeys everywhere!! Then we headed to Hin Klarng, for open sea snorkeling, which was lots and lots of fun. Saw a lot of fish and coral, tiger fish. haha Our last stop was Bamboo Island, which was probably my favorite part of the day. We went snorkeling and swimming. I made a friend named Russ who was a tour guide with another company, and he got me a pineapple stem and helped me feed it to the fish and then he found me a hermit crab who came back with me to Railay. haha Then it was time to head back to Railay. That night I had dinner on the beach to watch the most amazing sunset I've ever seen! I took a zillion pictures, which will be up soon!

Day 4: The next day was all about exploring. I hiked all over. I took a good hike over to Ton Sai and tried to get into these other caves, but failed, haha, and then I went to see Diamond Cave, which was kindof like National Treasure. Then I rented a kayak and did some kayaking around to the different beaches and stuff. That afternoon was spent entirely laying out on the beach. I stayed there until the sun went down, just so I could be sure to see it again. haha That night I headed over to Railay East, and hung out for a while and got a good beach barbeque dinner.

Day 5: is today. This morning I woke up early, as usual, and headed over to Princess Cave. Over near Princess Cave and this treacherous looking pathway to a lagoon. Well, I was there, so I had to do it. The path was all clay and mud and I am so thankful for the ropes that somebody put there so you can hang on, cause it's quite steep. It was fun though and led me to a lagoon! Crazy. haha And then I showered and got myself American style banana pancakes, which are a little difficult to find in these nick of the woods. Usually if you ask for a banana pancake, you get a thai rotee, which are awesome, but more of a dessert, rather than pancakes. I was obviously very excited about this banana pancake. haha Then I got a long tail boat back to Ao Nang, a sangtheow to Krabi town, and another sangtheow to the airport. And now I'm here waiting...

Anyways, that was my trip! Pictures and better stories (hopefully) coming soon!!
