Chatuchak Market

Chatuchak Market, aka JJ Market, is the biggest outdoor market in Southeast Asia. It's HUGE. I actually have a map of it that is impossible to decipher, although Tricia has tried a few times. haha The past two Saturday's I have been there and I went a long time ago with my mom when she was here. It's super easy to get to because it is right off the BTS (skytrian, monorail...) and you can find absolutely anything you ever want or need there, it just might take a little time because of it's size. It's all these little crammed shops under a tin roof and it's very claustrophobic-y and hot. Very very hot. haha It's so crowded because it is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 6. It's cool though and you can find some great deals. You can't really go to JJ without buying anything. That would be weird. haha

Last Saturday I went with Tricia and Thom. It was boiling outside and that's mostly what I remember about it. haha I found some awesome earrings though for only 10 baht each! That's 30 cents people! I ended up buying 6 pairs. Plus they had plums at the market that day. haha That sounds really silly, but I haven't even thought about plums in a very very long time so it was very strange seeing them. We wandered around for a while and saw a lot of different sections of the market, including the clothes, sunglasses, hats, bags, some furniture and lights, pets, food, plants, leather goods, pillows, knick knacks and such, etc. Anything you can think of. The pet section of the market is so sad. And so cute. haha You can buy dogs, cats, rabbits (and I'm pretty sure that there might be some miniflops in there!), mice, squirrels, etc etc. The dogs are usually pure breed. The pen with the golden retrievers and huskies always almost gets me to fork over some money and take one home. You just feel so bad for them, because it is really really hot in there. hahaha

Yesterday Tricia and her friend Christina from home went back and I tagged along. We didn't have as much time there, but I managed to find a great deal on some bags. haha We went on almost the same route as we did before. It wasn't as hot yesterday as the weekend before, but it was even more crowded and stuffy with people. It was hard to decide which way it is better.

It's been pretty low key here, which has been nice. I really need some rest. The month of April wore me out. I do have Tuesday and Friday off this week though and of course I'm gonna have to do something for that. I can't just waste my time here! Before I know it, I'll be home for the summer and I want to be able to say I did things! haha
