Chao Phraya River

Due to an unfortunate event, a few of my fingers are broken and blogposts will be mostly pictures for the next few weeks...

My dad came to visit a couple weekends ago and we managed to do lots of sightseeing! We went up to the Banyan Tree for a view of Bangkok at night, took a tour of the river, saw the Grand Palace, and did some shopping at JJ market! I had never taken a full tour of the Chao Phraya River, so here are some pics!

Wat Arun and Pak Klong Dta Laad

Sawasdee kaaaa! Alrighty, I don't have much to say, but I've got some pics. This weekend I went exploring and started off with Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) which is across the river from Grand Palace and Wat Po, so I got to take a boat there and then I went for a very long walk and ended up at the Flower Market, which was beautiful! And then, in true Kat fashion, I succeeded in getting very very lost and having to take a taxi back to the subway. haha

Playing Dress Up

Okay, I LOVE playing dress up. It is not uncommon for me to go home after school and try on ALL my clothes, turn up my music and dance around. In fact, it happens most days. haha So last weekend was so so much fun for me! It was Halloween and Loy Krathong! Two great holidays and excuses to look ridiculous! haha

Halloween was fun fun fun. I decided to go as Doraemon, the Japanese blue robotic cat with a magical pocket. Ya, I guess it's something that most early 20's girls would choose, but hey, how could you NOT want to dress up as a blue robotic cat?? haha It was awesome. I wore my costume to school on Friday, where I have to say, the nursery room was super cute and festive. Aubrey was Hello Kitty, Jim was a butterfly, and Chu was a peacock. Plus our class was cute too. haha All we did that day was take pictures eat candy.
Then the next day was Halloween! I suited up in my Doraemon outfit and set to go out. The boys and Fern and I went to a party hosted by someone from work and we met up with Aubrey and Parker and then we headed to Tapas. We had an amazing time! Thailand doesn't really get Halloween (they think it's all scary and mean), and the party was more Halloween festive than I had seen in all of Thailand, which was great!
Then Sunday I went with Jim and Aubrey to get my Thai dress for Loy Krathong!! Loy Krathong is a festival where people float little boats made of bamboo stalk, banana leaves, and flowers, with lit candles on them to "send their worries away". So anyways, on this day traditionally people where traditional Thai dress. So at school on Monday everybody wore their Thai outfits and we helped the kids make their krathongs and floated them in the pool! haha Then when I got home, I joined people outside to make my own krathong! I have to say, I'm very very proud of it! I made it all by myself! Then I went to go put on my Thai dress again, haha, and Chris, James, and I headed to subway and to meet Ryan and Fern at a park for a big Loy Krathong party and to float our boats! I had so much fun! haha We made sure we did it right and put a piece of our hair, nail, and some baht in our boats before we floated them away! I'm wishing for some really good luck! haha
It was lots of fun dressing up, but it was nice to put some normal clothes on on Tuesday...It had been since Thursday that I had a normal outfit. People were starting to think I was crazy. hahaha
