Family Trip! - Phuket

After the first couple days in Khao Lak, we took a couple motorbikes to Phuket. Phuket was busy busy busy and I had a few speculations as we were driving in, but it proved to be a lot of fun. The beach is super busy and packed, but absolutely beautiful. There is definitely a reason why Phuket is one of the biggest tourist spots. The beach is filled with all sorts of water sports and we were ready to try something out. We opted for spending a good portion of the time playing on a big water playground with trampolines and water totters and rock climbing walls. Then we headed over to a quieter beach that Fern kept calling "the monkey beach" because it has a couple of gibbons there that hang out and play with a little pug. It was very very cute. That silly monkey was very patient with a lot of people. haha They had some swings on the beach that I relaxed on for a little while and then I took a very good nap. haha
That night we checked out the night life. It was crazy, a lot like Pattaya. First we went to a small bar where Ryan ended up playing with the band, then the boys played a game of pool while Fern and I chatted with the waitress and Fern told everybody she was from Malaysia, and then the best part of the night came when we ended up at this really weird club that reminded me of something that would be in space. Fern and I danced the night away with these stripey people. haha
The next day was time to head back to Khao Lak to grab the rest of our stuff and catch a bus to Bangkok. We got there just in time and had to rush to return the motorbikes and get our things. It was a rough bus ride back, but a great trip!

Waiting at the bus station. We almost didn't make it, but luckily seats cleared up!

Family Trip! - Khao Lak

For one last hurrah, Fern, Ryan, James, and I headed down south for a few days! Ryan was already there, being scuba steve, so Fern and I took a bus down one night and the next day James met up with us. We stayed the first couple nights in Khao Lak mostly just hanging on the beach and sipping cocktails!

A very cute ferry to get across a sudden deep zone that parted the beach.

First day on the busy beach...

Scond day on the not so busy beach...

Happy Snapper!

We found a waterfall nearby as we were heading towards Phuket.

More to come on our family trip!

Last Day of Nursery

For those of you who don't know, I've decided to come home and I'll be home in a little more than a week! Just in time for Christmas! It was my last day of work last Friday and it was bittersweet. I've learned a lot and I'm going to miss a lot of people there, especially my co-teacher, Aubrey, and all the TAs. We had a little going away party after school, complete with chai yen cake (Thai iced tea cake)! It was wonderful and I'm going to miss everybody!

(But I am very happy to be heading home!)

Ayutthayah

Last weekend, I took a day trip to Ayuthayah, the old capital of Bangkok. It's a bunch of Wats (temples) now and there is a modern city connected.

Last day of work is Friday and I'll be home in just a few short weeks!

Chao Phraya River

Due to an unfortunate event, a few of my fingers are broken and blogposts will be mostly pictures for the next few weeks...

My dad came to visit a couple weekends ago and we managed to do lots of sightseeing! We went up to the Banyan Tree for a view of Bangkok at night, took a tour of the river, saw the Grand Palace, and did some shopping at JJ market! I had never taken a full tour of the Chao Phraya River, so here are some pics!

Wat Arun and Pak Klong Dta Laad

Sawasdee kaaaa! Alrighty, I don't have much to say, but I've got some pics. This weekend I went exploring and started off with Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) which is across the river from Grand Palace and Wat Po, so I got to take a boat there and then I went for a very long walk and ended up at the Flower Market, which was beautiful! And then, in true Kat fashion, I succeeded in getting very very lost and having to take a taxi back to the subway. haha
